6/2013 – 7/2013 Ghost-wrote articles for Microsoft on software development on new Windows platforms.
6/2013 – 8/2013 Wrote several articles for Dell for their own sites, mostly discussing new Intel processors and their benefits for portable devices.
7/2013 – 10/2013 Various articles for Betanews (http://betanews.com/author/lseltzer/) on storage, mobility, security, operating systems.
9/2013 – 10/2013 Feature for InformationWeek on migrating to Office 365. (http://www.informationweek.com/applications/google-apps-to-office-365-why-to-switch/d/d-id/1109827?)
9/2013 – 5/2015 Many, many articles including testing, on enterprise security for ZDNet (http://www.zdnet.com/meet-the-team/us/larry-seltzer/). My most common topic was software vulnerability and how to mitigate and otherwise address them. I advocated for forceful IT policies to implement best practices, especially with respect to Identity and Access Management and software updates.
11/2013 – 12/2013 Wrote several articles for Intel and Dell for their own sites, mostly discussing the benefits of blade servers and 10Gb Ethernet.
11/2013 – 12/2013 White paper, infographic and webinar for IMation on their “Windows to Go” devices. (http://www.ironkey.com/en-US/resources/documents/IronKey-Empower-and-Secure-the-Mobile-Workforce.pdf) These are cryptographically and physically secure USB thumb drives off of which a user can boot and run securely, no matter the security state of the host system.
12/2013 Consulting to a local medical office, rebuilding their entire network, including new servers and NAS and establishing secure practices. Updated software, set up systems for automating software updates and backups, lessened privileges of ordinary users, and strengthened password requirements.
1/2014 – 3/2014 Articles for Brocade on SDN (Software-Defined Networking) introducing the topic and exploring SDN architectures and security implications. No longer online.
2/2014 Developed content (presentation, questions) for a panel on BYOD security. Covered different models (user-owned vs. corporate-owned), containerization, best practices and other major topics
